Today we rely heavily on lights, microwaves, computers and cars to get though our every day lives. Most of these things have one thing in common. They are each powered by electricity. Our nuclear reactors produce this energy. Enrico Fermi is considered to have invented nuclear energy. Without his out his study we would still be using candle to light our homes.
Enrico was born in Rome, raised and live in Rome for a lot of his life. He would have stayed on that side of the world if it were not for Germany. Right before World War Two Germany had persecuted the Jewish community. Fermi’s feared for his wife’s safety because she was Jewish. The U.S.A was everyone had the freedom of speech and religion no matter what race you were. Not to mention in a grate depression however it was still one of the safest places on earth. Fermi took refugee there like many others. In the U.S. Fermi’s experts and well known work as a physicist quickly got him a job. He was later asked to join the Manhattan project [which was started in secret to create a bomb to destroy Germany and Japan]. Fermi played a big roll in the bombs making and invented many of the key formula that are still used today to build bombs today. When the nuclear bombs

Were finish two were dropped. First one was dropped on Hiroshima and another one on Nagasaki. Not very long after this Japan surrendered.
People are still inventing weapons of mass destruction to use on there enemies. Fermi’s formulas and concepts still are widely used by government programs and terrorist groups. For this you can thank or blame Fermi.
After the war was over Fermi continued inventing. He had patents on over 20 different inventions. That is when he made the improved Nuclear reactor.
Today electric energy is widely used. Nuclear power plants are used to
Create the energy needed in America. [Year 2005] In Pennsylvania 9 reactors produced 70,000 million Kilowatts of nuclear power. We would not have enough energy to support America without Fermi’s reactor creating new dependable energy every day.
Fermi had a huge impact on the entire world. In the U.S. he helped invent nuclear weapons and helped America win world war two. With his reactor he provided Americans with electricity. His formulas were used to create bombs that could destroy the world and pulled the America into the cold war. Fermi was one of the most influential people of all time.
